Trying to Treat Your Sweating Issues

Excessive sweating plagues over one third of the people on the earth. Excessive sweating is usually genetic so is more common in families. This condition is not only caused by genes but other contributing factors could include the menopause, overactive thyroid or antidepressant drugs.

This condition can be quite embarrassing especially when it causes sweat patches or unpleasant body odour. Sweat does not in itself smell. The smell is caused by a break down of fatty acids resulting from the breeding ground for bacteria that sweat provides. The cause of the nasty offensive smell of sweat is these fatty acids.

It is the hands, feet, groin, face and armpits which cause excessive sweating problems. Sometimes, this abundance formation of sweat can lead to a condition called bromhidrosis where yeast and bacteria break down sweat. Areas affected can become inflamed, red, itchy and the skin can get cracked and sore.

For this reason, you should know how to manage your sweating problems. Many people use deodorants to control sweat, thinking they are anti-perspirant. However not all deodorants are anti-perspirants, they don’t stop sweat but just disguise its odor. Choose anti-perspirants that have aluminum chloride in them, which closes pores to prevent sweat and thus keep you dry.

Wearing tight fitting clothing should be avoided as this can antagonize the problem. Wearing loose clothing instead will reduce excessive sweating. It is also better to wear light colored clothes as they hide sweat stains. Wearing dark clothing will mean that sweat patches are more visible.

Avoid drinking hot liquids as you tend to sweat more with them. Instead, drink as much water as possible to cure your sweating problems by not only lessening your sweat, but also by cooling your body.

Follow these tips and you will soon start to stop sweating.
